STAR Communities announced today that Seattle has been awarded a 5-STAR Community Rating for national leadership in sustainability. The City achieved the highest score to date, and is only the second in the nation to achieve the 5-STAR rating for its participation in the STAR Community Rating System (STAR), which evaluates the livability and sustainability of U.S. communities.

Daryl Campbell has been named president and CEO of Seattle Goodwill Industries. Campbell has been interim president and CEO of Shoreline Community College and joins Seattle Goodwill Aug. 18. He replaces Ken Colling, who retired at the end of June after more than 10 years. Campbell has an M.B.A. from University of Phoenix and a law degree from Seattle University School of Law.

A record number of shoppers attended the 31st Annual Glitter Sale at Goodwill, and their purchases helped make this year’s sale a success! More than 2,360 people bought $241,850 worth of formalwear, eveningwear, shoes, purses, jewelry and accessories on Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9. All proceeds from the sale will support Goodwill’s free job training and education programs for low-income and underserved people in the community.

Seattle, WA (October 8, 2014) – According to a random national poll of American adults commissioned by Goodwill, funny, minimalist and unique costumes are America’s top adult Halloween choices this year. Funny and minimalist costumes topped the charts at 17%, closely followed at 14% by “very unique attire.” The iconic or classic costume was preferred by 11% of Americans, followed by couple’s costumes at 10%. Gory (4%), trend costumes (2%) and risqué attire (1%) lagged far behind the popular choices.
