Glitter Gala Contestants Late last spring Seattle Goodwill collaborated with The Art Institute of Seattle to host the 6th Annual Glitter Gala Design Competition at Burnley Gallery. The theme was Through the Woods – a spin on classic Grimm’s fairytales.

This student focused show challenged up-and-coming designers to create new designs made entirely from repurposed items found in Goodwill stores. Designs varied from gowns adorned with colorful roses to outfits inspired by classic fairytales such as Red Riding Hood. Judges evaluated creations based on students’ ability to transform ordinary items into new stylish designs depicting this year’s theme. Top designs from the competition will be showcased at the Annual Glitter Gala on November 2 at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel Grand Ballroom.

The Glitter Gala is an evening full of fun and fashion. It includes dinner, raffle, silent auction, and a fashion show. Ticket prices range from $175 – 350; proceeds from the event benefit Goodwill’s computer classes and technology. Watch highlights from last year’s Glitter Gala on the Seattle Goodwill Youtube page.
