Glitter Sale 2015: Shoppers Talk Glitter

Every year, thousands of shoppers come out for our annual Glitter Sale. Literally. Last year over 2,300 shoppers joined the excitement to hunt for those perfect glittery finds—all while supporting free job training and education programs right here in our community. Some Glitter Sale shoppers are first timers, and many of them have been shopping the sale anywhere between 2 and 32 years.

This year, we decided to do a little Q & A with a couple of experienced Glitter Sale shoppers: Chelsea Brown & Rachel Dooley. They’re both Seattle natives, have both shopped Glitter Sale multiple years in a row, and both have made it a tradition to shop the sale with their mothers.

Why do you shop Glitter Sale?
Chelsea: Anything that can marry two of my interests like shopping and social services is a no brainer! What better way to spend a weekend than sifting through swanky garments and supporting job training and education!
Rachel: I honestly just love how convenient it all is. It is really wonderful feeling knowing that I am going to find something absolutely fabulous, but having no idea what that thing is going to be. I also love how everything is organized, it makes it really easy to find exactly what I am looking for.

What’s your favorite Glitter Sale find?
Rachel: I think my favorite find was an amazing bronze corset top with black lace trim and a bronze and black tulle skirt. I found this at my first or second Glitter Sale and I was so excited to find something so unique and beautiful! (Pictured below, left)
Chelsea: A vintage fur coat that I picked up last year. It’s undeniably glamorous! (Pictured below, right)

What’s your favorite Glitter Sale memory?
Chelsea: Probably the first year I attended and found out how wonderful it is! I make sure to put it on my calendar each year now!
Rachel: I would say my favorite Glitter Sale memory was the first year I went with my Mom. It was just so wonderful to have that experience with her. She helped me pick out dresses, try on clothes, and made me feel like a Princess. I love that it has turned into a tradition that we get to look forward to every year.

What’s your favorite part of the Glitter Sale experience?
Rachel: I would definitely say the energy is my favorite part of the Glitter Sale experience. There are so many excited people who are there to find some one of a kind treasures to take home!
Chelsea: The fervor! The anticipation! The finds! It’s really the quintessential win-win situation, what is not to love?

And finally, do you have any advice for first-time shoppers to the Glitter Sale?
Chelsea: Take your time! If you can, allow yourself several hours to just experience everything. The sheer volume of treasures to pick through can quite literally take hours, but having the time to strike up conversation with other Glitter goers is the best. Everyone is so excited to be there, it’s just a great place to spend a good chunk of a chilly fall day.
Rachel: I would say be prepared to share mirrors, and be prepared to change in aisles. Mirrors are limited and space is a little limited so just be prepared for that. But I have always shared mirrors with super awesome ladies who just showered me in compliments while I tried on dresses, so I had no complaints!

Glitter Sale 2015 is this Saturday and Sunday! RSVP and check out some previews on our Facebook event page—and we’ll see you this weekend!
