15 Holiday Events around the Puget Sound

Ready for some holiday merriment? We love community events and getting to celebrate with our neighbors. Check out these holiday activities that will delight all ages and are found all over the Puget Sound region:THANKSGIVING WEEKEND:

My Macy’s Holiday Parade: November 27, 9 am
The 2015 My Macy’s Holiday Parade features 25 inflatable floats, marching bands, sports teams and mascots, and nearly 650 costumed characters. See the website for route information.

Westlake Center Tree Lighting Celebration: November 27, 5 pm
Gather at Westlake Center to enjoy caroling, the lighting of the Macy’s star, the Winter Village in Westlake Park, and fireworks to ring in the holiday season! The event is organized by the Downtown Seattle Association, and presented by King 5—and free for all.

Greet the Season at Lake Union Park: November 28, 10 am – 8 pm
Visit MOHAI, the Center for Wooden Boats, and the Historic Ships Wharf for music, refreshments and family-friendly crafts and activities as you Greet the Season at Lake Union Park.

Winterfest in Kirkland: November 29, 2 – 6 pm                                          
Enjoy downtown Kirkland’s Winterfest, including carols, Santa arrival, kids’ activities, refreshments and tree-lighting.

Edmonds Tree Lighting: November 28, 3:30 pm
Edmonds Tree Lighting ceremony and other fun in the quaint downtown area, including Selfie Santa.


The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition: December 4, 6 – 8:30 pm
Stroll through Westlake Center surrounded by Christmas carolers, and vote for your favorite team in the Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition.

Jule Fest: December 5, 10 am – 4:30 pm
Head to Poulsbo and savor Scandinavian food and traditions, along with a visit from Santa and a yule-log lighting, all at the Bazaar and Jule Fest sponsored by the Poulsbo Sons of Norway.

Bellingham’s Lighted Boat Parade: December 5, 5:30 – 8 pm
Watch a lighted boat parade on Bellingham Bay.

Electric Lights Parade: December 5, 5 – 7:30 pm
Head to Merrysville for an Electric Lights Parade featuring vehicles, floats and people a-glitter with holiday lights (6:30 pm). The event also features family activities, photo booths, the traditional lighting of the water tower, live music, and an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus. Share your holiday spirit by donating non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped gifts for the Marysville Community Food Bank.

Howlidays: December 12, 12 – 4 pm
Admire cute dogs dressed in holiday attire (or dress up your own!) at Pioneer Square Howlidays, featuring a dog costume contest, agility course, market, and live music.


Snowflake Lane: November 27 – December 24, 7 pm
Bellevue’s Snowflake Lane features falling snow, dancers and drummers on Bellevue Way, with a Santa Arrival parade and tree lighting on Nov. 27.  A whole new show—Celebration Lane—takes place the week between Christmas and New Year’s.

Christmas Ship Festival: November 27 – December 23
Each holiday season, the beautifully-lighted Argosy Christmas Ship transports local choirs to serenade more than 45 waterfront neighborhoods. Visit the Christmas Ship Festival site and scroll down for a complete schedule of free events onshore.

Festival of Trees: November 24 – January 3
Visit the 38th Festival of Trees (Fairmont Olympic Hotel) to see 21 gorgeously-decorated trees that honor courageous Seattle Children’s patients.

Gingerbread Village: November 24 – January 3
Sheraton Seattle presents The 23rd Annual Gingerbread Village: “May the Holidays Be with You.” See Star Wars-themed gingerbread creations prepared by the Sheraton Hotel culinary team and top construction and architecture firms. Free event, with voluntary donations benefitting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

WinterFest: November 27 – December 31
Even when it’s raining outside, Seattle Center’s WinterFest offers wintry (and dry) fun. Little ones love the giant, model Winter Train and Village.  Enjoy live music and performances while visiting the train, then stop outside to see ice sculpting by internationally-acclaimed ice masters. The WinterFest Ice Rink is open Nov. 27 – Jan. 3—see the website for hours and a complete entertainment schedule at the Armory.
