Welcome to 2016.

The New Year often comes with renewed commitments to an array of self-improvement goals. At Goodwill, we’re big fans of goal-setting, and working hard to achieve those goals—with a little help from friends along the way, of course. We love hearing the success stories from our students, shoppers, donors, and volunteers!

As you look forward to making positive changes in 2016, check out these ten common New Year’s resolutions that we can help you with.

Find fitness attire and gear at Goodwill.FITNESS & WEIGHT LOSS
Some of the most popular New Year resolutions have to do with getting in shape. If you need the athletic gear to get your workout routine started—whether it’s a pair of trainers, exercise attire, workout videos, or the equipment needed for your chosen fitness routine—we’ve got it all in our stores!

And as you shed the pounds, and need to adjust your wardrobe accordingly—shop Goodwill. Renovating your wardrobe to fit your renovated self doesn’t need to empty your wallet.Kitchen wares, food storage, knives, cutlery and more at Goodwill. EAT HEALTHIER
This goal often goes hand-in-hand with fitness and weight loss—but can come with a whole different list of supplies. Whether it’s to-go containers for your healthy work lunches, the knives you need to chop your vegetables, or the extra pans for meal-prep day—we’ve got you covered.

If you’re trying to reduce your spending—whether that’s to help yourself put more away for the future, or pay off debt—Goodwill is a great place to find gently-used items that are in great condition and can save you a LOT of green on needed items. From clothing, housewares, and linens, to toys, athletic gear, furniture and more—shopping Goodwill is budget AND eco-friendly. (And if you’re hunting for furniture, don’t forget to check out our current Furniture Sale!)

Volunteers from Glitter Sale 2015HELP OTHERS SUCCEED
This is an increasingly popular New Year resolution—and we love that! Every time you shop or donate Goodwill, you’re helping our job training and education students succeed. If you’d like to get even more involved consider volunteering or becoming a financial donor in 2016.

Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity? Or a way to support people in your neighborhood? Goodwill offers SO many ways to give back to the community. Shopping, donating materials, donating money, and volunteering are great ways to be part of the support that allowed us to help over 8,700 people in our community last year!Find all of your new hobby items at Goodwill. LEARN SOMETHING NEW
This is another one of those resolutions that we can help you with on many levels. As we mentioned, last year we helped over 8,700 individuals learn something new through our job training and education programs! Sign up for classes like English for Speakers of Other Languages, computer classes, or vocational training to get on track with your New Year’s resolution.

Or maybe you want to learn to knit, ski, do yoga, get crafty, cook, etc. Not only do we have the supplies in our stores to do those things—but we’ve also got an abundance of books that might have some insight on how to do them!Advance your career through our job training and education programs, or come work for Goodwill!MOVE YOUR CAREER FORWARD
Not only do we offer programs, classes, and support services to those experiencing barriers to economic opportunity—but we’re also (always) hiring! If you’re looking to use your career to make an impact in our community, or work for a company that values success and “moving up”—check out our open positions. If you don’t see something now, check back later! We hire in many different fields/departments, and at all career levels from entry level on up!Luggage, camping gear, and more - for your new travel adventures. TRAVEL MORE
While we can’t buy your plane ticket, or put gas in your tank—we CAN provide you with inexpensive suit cases, backpacking supplies, camping gear, weather-appropriate garb, and a plethora of other items you may need as you hit the roads, rails, and skies to make your travel goals come true!Get organized - and be eco-friendly! Donate! GET ORGANIZED
Whether you need to purge (and donate!) all of 2015’s clutter, or you just need to put some organizational systems in place, Goodwill is an excellent place to start (and finish). We’ll gladly accept your donations once you’ve completed the purging process—and we have a lot of storage and shelving pieces you’ll need to establish a little more order.

Last year we helped our seven county region keep over 50 million pounds of material waste out of landfills, thanks to eco-conscious donors! One of our core values at Seattle Goodwill is sustainability, and we love being part of a community that values it, too! Think your apartment complex could use a donation bin? Talk to your manager and let them know to reach out to us—and we might be able to make eco-friendliness even more convenient!
