“My dad had been here in Seattle for nine years and missed us so he arranged for us to come here,” said Mary Jane Zeta.  “When we arrived from the Philippines, I had not heard of Goodwill until my aunt mentioned their programs.”

Mary Jane signed up for free job training classes at Goodwill, including the customer service program.   “English is my second language and I was unsure of my language skills, but I needed a job,” she remembered.  “Taking the classes at Goodwill and talking to other students helped give me confidence in speaking English.”

Mary Jane has now worked at the Seattle Goodwill store for the past five years and has been promoted to a retail supervisor.  She has referred many people to the job training program.  “I tell customers that I am one of the people that has been helped by Goodwill.”

A Goodwill shopper herself, Mary Jane likes to shop the collectibles and book sections the most.  Soon after she was hired, Mary Jane bought a special ring at the Glitter Sale to celebrate her new job.

She is very appreciative of the training and her job.  “I love Goodwill – it is my second family."

Help us change someone else's life through job training by donating gently used items you no longer need, making a financial gift, or shopping one of our twenty-two stores today.
