Celebrating 90 Years | Volunteering at Goodwill

At Seattle Goodwill, we rely on hundreds of volunteers to help us fulfill our mission of helping those in need through free job training and education.  In 2012, our volunteers donated nearly 6,500 hours in support. Our volunteers work in our job training centers assisting instructors and tutoring students, at special events such as the Glitter Gala and Glitter Sale, in our administrative offices, and as models in our Vintage Fashion shows.

Meet one of our amazing volunteers, Agnes!

AgnesWhere are you from?  What brought you to Seattle?
I came from Poland one year ago, after spending most of my life there.  My husband and I moved to the U.S. because of my husband’s work.

How long have you been volunteering at Seattle Goodwill and what do you do here?
I have been volunteering at Seattle Goodwill since August 2012.  I help in the Development Department with mail, entering data, and filing.  I also helped organize the centerpieces for the Glitter Gala.

Why did you decide to volunteer for Goodwill?
I decided to volunteer for Goodwill because this is great opportunity for me - I can help others and learn more about working in the U.S.

What do you like most about volunteering at Goodwill?
I like that I always have new projects to run.  Sometimes they are totally different, so I always enjoy them.

You can also make a difference by volunteering at Goodwill. Visit our Volunteer page to fill out an application and see what opportunities are currently available.
