Happy Earth Day!

Here at Goodwill we love seeing Seattle and the Pacific Northwest celebrated. There are many things to love about our region, but above all it’s the people who make it such a wonderful place to live. Our cities and towns are filled with responsible consumers who care for the environment and push for sustainability. This makes the Pacific Northwest the perfect place for our Goodwill model of recycling and reuse.

By accepting donations of unwanted items, selling those used goods to help fund free job training programs, and then salvaging items that didn’t sell, we strengthen our local communities in multiple ways. Items are kept out of landfills, and community members learn skills that make them more employable and self-sufficient.

One of our favorite celebrations of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest right now is Macklemore’s new Can’t Hold Us video. After captivating the country and world with his song Thrift Shop, Macklemore returns to his hometown roots quite literally. The video follows the journey of The Heist flag back to Seattle, which he previously paid homage to in The Town.

Today, the last day of our Earth Day Giveaway, we’re celebrating one of our favorite local artists with Macklemore Monday. Enter our contest today for a chance to win a signed copy of The Heist and also be entered in our grand prize drawing for two tickets to see Macklemore in concert in Vancouver, B.C.. You can enter by emailing us a photo of items you will be donating to Goodwill or tweeting the photo with the hashtag #MacklemoreMonday.

Good luck, and thank you for supporting Seattle Goodwill!
