How to Help

March 26, 2020

Posted in: Community

To help keep our community safe, Seattle Goodwill has temporarily closed all stores and donation centers.

“Our first priority is for the safety of our community, employees, students and shoppers. Store closures have a significant financial toll on us and will impact our ability to serve our mission,” said Daryl Campbell, Seattle Goodwill CEO.  “Goodwill is a nonprofit and the proceeds from stores provide job training and education for individuals in our community – all free of charge.”

In the midst of these unprecedented times, Goodwill is working tirelessly to fulfill the growing needs in our community. As the COVID-19 pandemic worsens, we expect the number of people seeking critical support services will continue to increase, far exceeding our available resources. That’s why we need your support, now more than ever.

Here are some ways that you can still support Goodwill during this time:

Make a financial donation.

Your gift will enable us to continue providing essential job training and education programs, and to respond to quickly growing demands for help with shelter, food and more. When you show your support for Goodwill, you’re directly and positively impacting the lives of the people around you.

Donate material items.

Currently, all of our donation centers are closed. While you are staying at home it is a great time to do some spring cleaning and collect items you no longer want. Net proceeds from the sale of your donations help fund all of our programs. Not only will you feel great about cleaning out your house and recycling items you no longer want, you’ll also have the satisfaction of knowing your donation will help put people in your community. Please hold onto your donations until we reopen our donation centers for everyone’s safety. You can check our website to see when we have reopened our stores and donation centers.

During this very difficult time, all of us at Seattle Goodwill extend our heartfelt best wishes for your family’s good health and safety. And we appreciate your support.
